On the occasion of Lore Bert's 85th birthday, the exhibitions Ways of World Making (Gutenberg Museum Mainz) and Traces of Memory – Signs of the Present (Cadoro – Center for Art and Science Mainz) were opened. But it is not only in Mainz that you can enjoy Lore Bert's art to the fullest. Since September 25th, you can admire the light, floating works on paper of the hardworking cosmopolitan woman in picturesque Mallorca. Her work will be shown in the Galería Roy until December 5, 2021 as part of the solo exhibition Lore Bert – Ways of World Making.
The gallerist Daniel Roy has made a knowledgeable selection that includes various groups of works and offers a good overview of the decades of industrious work of the artist. The well-designed show on the three floors of the Spanish gallery creates references between the works on the various exhibition levels and even beyond to the legendary environment of the 2013 biennial show, the core pieces of which – the five platonic solids – cannot be seen in Felanitx, but nevertheless represents a »quasi-part of the exhibition«, as Daniel Roy puts it in the video.
Together with Dr. Dorothea van der Koelen, he leads through the exhibition. In constant dialogue with the gallerist and art historian, he explains the principles on which the exhibition concept was based. The knowledgeable and easy conversation also shows the viewer new facets of Lore Bert's work as well as interesting facts about her paper art.
