The Architecture Biennale in Venice is in full swing and important players in the art and culture industry are spending the summer in the lagoon city.

The new Minister of State for Culture in the Merz government – the publisher and journalist Dr. Wolfram Weimer – visited the Biennale and, during his stay in Venice, did not miss the opportunity to visit the Mainz-based paper artist Lore Bert, who was working in her Venetian studio at the time.

In addition to the conversation with Lore Bert – whose fascinating works on paper and spatial installations have been shown in over 300 exhibitions in 28 countries on all continents over the last five decades and who enjoys a great international reputation and will be installing an important environment with Japanese paper in the Venetian church of San Fantin next year – Minister of State for Culture Dr. Wolfram Weimer also visited the Ways of Hope exhibition at La Galleria Venezia, which was presented in parallel to the Biennale.

The gallerist, publisher and art historian Dr. Dorothea van der Koelen gave the Minister of State for Culture a guided tour of the show and spoke to him about the challenges of the cultural sector.

In our Video of the Week, we have compiled some impressions of the visit into a short film. We hope you enjoy watching it and hope to welcome you to La Galleria Venezia soon. The exhibition Ways of Hope can be seen in our rooms until November 23, 2025.
