Lore Bert Musée Würth Erstein

The renowned paper artist Lore Bert from Mainz has already presented her art around the globe. In June 2023, the Museum Würth in Erstein will join the list of top-class exhibition houses that have had the honor of showing the works of the now 86-year-old artist, who still works daily in her studio, on their premises.

The vernissage at the Musée Würth France Erstein will take place on June 11, 2023. Art historian and culture journalist Dott.ssa Cristiana Coletti – long-time acquaintance of the artist and afficionada of her work – will give the opening speech. The exhibition will then be on display until January 7, 2024. Works by Lore Bert from the collection of the entrepreneur and art collector Prof. Dr. hc. mult. Reinhold Würth will be presented. Würth has over 70 works by the Mainz-based artist in his collection and has already presented them in various shows at his exhibition venues over the years.

In addition to the impressive lage-size relief objects made of the finest Japanese paper, sometimes paired with precious 24-carat gold leaf, and the Europe cycle on red Nepalese paper – which the artist herself acquired in a local manufactory on her trip to the kingdom in 1992 – the sensational installation with Platonic Solids in a spacious ocean of paper forms the center of the presentation.

The installation has already been shown as an ‘Evento Collaterale’ for the Venice Art Biennial in 2013, which became one of the top cultural events of the year in Italy, attracting over 105,000 visitors. The following year, the director of the National Museum of Busan in South Korea – Cho Il-Sang – brought the polyhedra to Asia, where the reflective bodies attracted visitors from near and far. In 2016, moreover, the Platonic Bodies were presented to the curious art public at Castle Mochental near Ehingen.

Such a top-class show in the heart of Europe will be a defining cultural event of this summer and will foreseeably attract many visitors from all European countries to Eastern France. For all those who have not yet been able to admire the Platonic bodies live, this is a unique opportunity.
