Before the vernissage of Guang Yao Wu’s new exhibitionat the Cadoro – Center for Art and Science in Mainz entitled Noch ein Mal(en) – Fünf Strichgemälde on Saturday, June 8, 2024 from 4–6 pm, gallerist and art historian Dr. Dorothea van der Koelen met with the Chinese artist.
In their conversation, which took place in the exhibition room of the recently set-up exhibition, the gallerist and the artist made a link between their beginnings together to joint exhibition projects and Wu’s artistic development up to the present day and then discussed in detail the group of line paintings presented in the current show.
Guang Yao Wu – a scholar of art history and an active mind – has a lot to say about the ideas behind his art, its technique and the connection between the various groups of works in his œuvre. The artist eloquently accepts the intellectual balls that Dr. Dorothea van der Koelen throws at him and opens up the world of his understanding of art to the viewer in a detailed and vivid way.
