Exhibition: Blue – The Colour of the Place
On the occasion of this year’s Architecture Biennale in Venice, La Galleria, the Venetian branch of the Gallery Dr. Dorothea van der Koelen from Mainz, is showing the parallel theme exhibition Blue – The Colour of the Place.
Gallerist and art historian Dr. Dorothea van der Koelen has selected exquisite masterpieces for this show that have one thing in common: the colour blue. Blue, that is the color of the light of the lagoon, the color of the water in the countless canals of the city, and beyond that, a color with many facets and qualities that will be explored in the exhibition.
With eleven artists from nine countries, Blue – The Colour of the Place brings together a wide variety of artistic positions and cultural backgrounds. Much like the lagoon city itself, which stands for diversity and the coming together of a wide variety of cultures, this exhibition is a melting pot of art in the best sense, for which only the best has been selected.
On display are works by Mainz paper artist Lore Bert, multiple Biennale and Documenta participant Daniel Buren, world renowned Emirati multimedia artist and painter Mohammed Kazem, conceptual art pioneer Joseph Kosuth, Dansaekhwa artist Nam Tchun-Mo, the video artist and Venetian by choice Fabrizio Plessi, the Belgian autodidact and graffiti artist Arne Quinze, the master of the grid point Reinhard Roy, the Sicilian and ZERO artist Turi Simeti, the nail artist Günther Uecker and the Dutch sculptor Jan van Munster.
The vernissage will take place on May 20, 2023 at La Galleria Venezia. We would be delighted to welcome you to the Biennale and exhibition launch at our gallery in the lagoon city.
