But she has – inspired by the numerous sacred buildings of all possible religions that she has come to know over the years – created works that are based on architectural drawings.
Accordingly, the name of the group of works is based on…. The title separates the works from actual architectural plans, with which the works of Lore Bert must not be confused, because they are artistically processed and thus withdrawn from use.
Using the materials she loves – delicate Japanese paper, gold leaf, pencil – she develops creative compositions that exude a great lightness but also a serious solemnity. The strict forms are contrasted by the light white of the paper.
Dr. Dorothea van der Koelen leads the viewer through the genesis of the group of works, from the forerunner works Im Zeichen der Metrie to the first trips to the Orient and the mosque visits, which fired the imagination of the hardworking cosmopolitan, to the canals of Venice, where the artist from Mainz found a second home around the turn of the millennium.
